Willmar Noon Lions NO-TAP BOWLING TOURNAMENT FUNDRAISER at Alley on Ash in New London on Sunday, April 14.
The Tournament starts at 11:30 am withcheck in 30 minutes prior to bowling.
THE FORMAT: Scotch Doubles. Cost is $30 per person. To reserve your spot, sign up with your $20 deposit at Alley on Ash. For more information on the tournament call 320-354-2112.
Annual Pancake Day Fundraiser
The Willmar Noon Lions will hold their 2024 Pancake Day on a Saturday in September at the Willmar Community Center. Pancakes and Sausage served by Chris Cakes. Refreshments will also be served. More information will come closer to the event.
100 percent of all proceeds support local programs for sight, hearing, diabetes, youth and more. All contributions or gifts to the Lions Club may NOT be deductible as charitable contributions (IRS Code).
Please come support our club's primary annual fundraiser and enjoy a great meal.

The Willmar Noon Lions Club conducts various fundraising events including our popular September waffle feed. This allows us to serve and give back to our community several ways.
- Helping a Willmar resident obtain eyeglasses if they are financially unable
- Provide eye screening for area children
- Supporting Willmar High School sports teams
- Helping the Willmar, MN community in many other ways
The WIllmar Noon Lions meet at the Kandiyohi County Historical Society Building on 1st and 3ed Wednesdays at noon, except for the last Wednesday of the month, which is the Club's Board Meeting. The Historical Society is located at 610 NE Hwy 71, Willmar.
Our members are people like you who've decided to take action and serve others. At the heart of Lions clubs there is a constant; SERVICE. Giving your time and energy to others is a fantastic way to help our community.
NOTICE: The club is currently meeting on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month.
Fundraising Event
Willmar Noon Lions Pancake Day
At Willmar Community Center
The annual event takes place in September. Details of the event will be posted when available. Utilizing Chris cakes. The meal includes all you can eat pancakes, sausage, juice, milk and coffee.
One hundred percent of the proceeds support local programs for sight, hearing, diabetes, youth and more.
Club's Peace Poster Winner Advanced to International Level
The Willmar Noon Lions annually holds a Lions Club International sponsored Peace Poster contest for children aged 9 to 13. The Club's 2018 Peace Poster Winner was Hannah Graves from Prinsburg Central Minnesota Christian School. The theme this year was "Kindness Matters". Hannah's poster moved up the Lions competition ranks to compete at the international level, finishing 24th in over 600,000 posters submitted. The poster was on display on March 9, 2019, at Lions Day at the United Nations in New York City. The Poster was also on display at the Lions International Convention held on July 5 - 9, 2019 in Milan, Italy. Congratulations Hannah.
WILLMAR NOON LIONS WALK, RUN AND WAG 5K
2018 event
The first and second annual Walk, Run and Wag 5K at event at Lions Memorial Park were both enjoyable successes. The July 1, 2019 event had ideal weather. The Club thanks all the sponsors and those who participated in these events. We also thank the KC Dogs Group and all the organizations who set up booths.
The Walk, Run and Wag 5K event is a furry family-friendly event to raise funds to purchase dog agility equipment for the Willmar Dog Park at Lions Park. Funds raised also help fund the club's other initiatives.

Dedication of Dog Statue and Bench
At the 2018 Walk, Run & Wag event, at Lions Memorial Park, the club unveiled a Labrador retriever bronze statute to honor all service dogs along with a granite bench to honor the memory of Lion Rick Thorson.

BEEP BASEBALL!
On July 15, 2017 the Minnesota Millers beep baseball team played exhibition games at the athletic field at Kennedy Elementary School in Willmar. Admission was free. The Millers, from the Twin Cities, are the only competitive peep baseball team for the blind and visually impaired in Minnesota. They be played beep baseball games against the Willmar Stingers, the Raymond Rockets, The Willmar VFW team, and other area dignitaries.
The event is being sponsored by local Lions Clubs in Raymond, Clara City, Maynard, and the Willmar Noon Lions. Concession profits along with club donations were given to the Millers to help pay for their trip to Florida for the Beep Baseball World Series.

KIDSIGHT Program
The Willmar Noon Lions will be out at various local venues to conduct "KidSight" eye vision screenings. Club members will be trained to use a Welch Allyn Vision Screening System to screen children aged six months or older but aimed specifically at those children under seven.
The KidSight program uses a handheld device used by trained Lion volunteers. The screening is a quick non-intrusive system that requires no physical contact or eye drops. The screening does not take place of a professional eye exam but does provide an indication if an eye exam is needed.
The screening device takes a picture inside the eyes and prints out results. Parents must sign a form for the test to be conducted on their child. The system will screen for: Myopia, Hyperopia, Astigmatism, Anisometropia, Strabismus, and Anisometropia.
Willmar Noon Lion Donn WInckler, a previous director of the District 5M4 KidSight Program, and Jean Raatz and him are the club's KidSight co-chairs.
In the Fall of 2022, the club assisted the Willmar School District with eye screening at each of the three elementary schools. Over 1,600 children were screened. The results of the screening showed that 334 children need a professional eye exam. The school contacts parents of those children of those that are referred for an eye exam and provides them with the results of the screening of their child. This assistance continued in 2023, with plans for continuing into the future.

Willmar Fire Station Family Night 2017, 2018, 2019
The Club partnered with the Willmar Nite Lions to conduct a KidSight eye screening event at the annual Family Night at the Fire Station. There were 56 children screened.
Kandiyohi County Fair on August 12, 2017
The Willmar Noon Lions, along with other Zone 7 clubs held a KidSight eye screening at the Kandiyohi County Fair. Saturday's "kid day" was chosen for the event that had 74 children screened. Four children that were screened had results that showed the need for follow-up with professional care.
YMCA's Healthy Kids Day on April 27, 2017, April 26, 2018, and April 25, 2019
The club partnered with the Willmar Nite Lions to do our first KidSight event a YMCA's Healthy Kids Day. There was a total of 99 children screened, with 6 children showing the need for a professional exam.
Bowling Tournament
In 2022 the Club held its first Bowling Tournament with the assistance of Alley On Ash bowling center in the City of New London. Lion Nate Schueller was chair of the event that raised $1,620. With the tournament's success, additional events will be held in the future. Another successful event was held in 2023. The Club gives thanks to the tournament's sponsors. |
